Issue Tracking

Track RFIs, clashes, and coordination issues with AI-suggested categories and urgency tags, plus full BCF 2.1 round-trip.

Issue Tracking

The Issues panel lets you create, categorise, and manage coordination issues directly from the 3D viewer or PDF canvas. Each issue links to a specific 3D element and its corresponding sheet position.

Opening the Issues Panel

Click Issues in the top menu bar (shows the open issue count). The panel opens as a sidebar within the 3D pane. In Split View it sits alongside both the model and the PDF canvas.

Creating an Issue

  1. Click or hover a 3D element to select it.
  2. Click New Issue in the panel header or press N.
  3. The issue is pre-populated with the element's category, GlobalId (if IFC is linked), and the linked sheet position.
  4. Enter a title, description, discipline, and priority. Click Save.

Issues can also be created from the PDF canvas by right-clicking any markup and selecting Create Issue from Markup.

LocusAI — Auto-categorisation

When you enter an issue title, LocusAI runs an on-device classification model that suggests a category (Structural, MEP, Architectural, Civil, Fire Protection, or General) and flags likely duplicates from existing open issues.

Tip: LocusAI inference runs entirely on your device using an ONNX model. No data is sent to any server — there are no per-query charges and no internet connection required.

BCF 2.1 Round-Trip (Export + Import)

LocusBIM supports the full BCF 2.1 viewpoint round-trip — send issues out to any coordination tool, accept issues back from it.

Export all issues as a BCF 2.1 file (.bcfzip) via the BCF ↓ button on the Issues panel. Each issue becomes a BCF Topic with: title, description, status, priority, category, author, dates, element link (Revit UniqueId), IFC GlobalId (when linked), 3D PerspectiveCamera, and the current section box + element isolation captured as ClippingPlanes + ComponentVisibility.

Import a BCF file from Solibri, Navisworks, BIMcollab Zoom, Trimble Connect, ArchiCAD BCF Manager, Revit BCF Manager, or any compliant tool via the BCF ↑ button. Each topic becomes a local issue with the title, description, status, priority, category, author, element link, screenshot, and camera position imported. The first imported issue's camera and isolation state apply immediately to the 3D viewer so you can see what the originator was looking at.

Producer compatibility note: we emit the IFC GlobalId in both XML attribute form (what Solibri and most readers expect) and child-element form (what strict xBIM validators check), and we accept either form on import — so round-trips through any producer preserve element identity.

Tip: IFC GlobalId inclusion in export requires an IFC sidecar file to be linked. See Section 20 for IFC Element Matching. Non-axis-aligned clipping planes from imported BCFs are flagged in the status line but not yet applied to the viewer — the current section-box state is axis-aligned only.
