Activate, deactivate, renew, and move your LocusBIM license between machines. Refund policy, auto-renew toggle, and tier comparison.

License & Account

Every LocusBIM install is licensed to a single machine. The license model is annual, per-seat, and managed entirely from Help → License inside the desktop app — there's no separate customer portal to log into.

Activating a new license

  1. Open Help → License.
  2. Paste the key from your activation email and click Activate.
  3. LocusBIM verifies the key online and binds it to this machine. Your plan (Individual, Team, or Enterprise) is loaded so the right entitlements unlock.
  4. You're done — the license stays active on this machine until you deactivate it or it expires.

Monthly re-check

Once a month, LocusBIM re-checks your license. If the server is unreachable (no internet, VPN block, firewall), the app keeps working for 30 days from the last successful check. Past that window, write features pause but you can still open and view your work.

Tip: The check is silent — no popup, no banner, nothing in your way. The only time you'll see a notification is if the re-check has been failing for about 25 days and you're close to the grace cliff, so you have time to fix the network or contact support.

Renewal reminders

Starting 30 days before your annual expiry, the app surfaces a non-modal renewal reminder in the menu bar. The reminder dismisses itself when you renew or when you click "Remind me later" (snoozes for 7 days). You can also manage the reminder cadence from Help → License → Renewal Reminders.

Auto-renew

Auto-renew is an opt-in toggle in Help → License → Auto-renew. When on, your saved card is charged on the anniversary of your activation and a new annual key is delivered automatically. When off (the default), you'll get the renewal reminders described above and renew yourself from locusbim.com when you're ready.

Refunds

New annual purchases include a 30-day no-questions-asked refund window. Open Help → License → Request Refund within 30 days of activation; the app builds a refund-request email pre-populated with your purchase id. After 30 days, refunds are evaluated case-by-case (e.g. tier downgrade mid-year, accidental double purchase). The full refund policy lives at locusbim.com/refunds.

Moving to a new machine (deactivate + reactivate)

  1. On the old machine: Help → License → Deactivate. This frees your seat and clears the key from this machine.
  2. Install LocusBIM on the new machine.
  3. Paste the same key into Help → License → Activate. The seat re-binds.
Tip: If the old machine is unrecoverable (dead drive, lost laptop), email support@locusbim.com from the address on your purchase and the seat will be released manually within one business day.

Trial mode

Unlicensed installs run in trial mode for 30 days from first launch. Trial unlocks every feature except export — you can mark up, run cost impact, run OCR, open BCF files, and everything else you'd do in a normal session. Save / export prompts a "Trial mode — activate to export" dialog with a one-click link to locusbim.com to finish purchasing.
