Sector-Specific Symbol Sets

Nuclear / Radiation

Symbols for nuclear power plant design, radioactive material handling, and radiation zone demarcation. The three-bladed trefoil (ISO 361) is included alongside zone boundary, shielded wall, and no-contamination zone markers used on floor plans and radiation survey drawings.

Medical / Healthcare

Medical gas outlet symbols (O2, vacuum, medical air, N2O) per CSA Z7396.1 labelling conventions, plus nurse call, code blue station, isolation room designation, negative pressure room, hand hygiene station, and lead shielding annotations used on hospital and long-term care designs.

Laboratory / Biosafety

Fume hood and biosafety cabinet plan symbols, autoclave, biohazard waste container, pass-through unit, airlock, emergency safety shower/eyewash (ANSI Z358.1), gas shutoff valve, chemical storage cabinet, and BSL-1 through BSL-4 room markers. Used on university lab, pharmaceutical, and research facility drawings.

Civil / Water / Environmental

Water and wastewater infrastructure symbols: manhole, catch basin, pump station, flow meter, backflow preventer, pressure gauge, monitoring well, sample point, weir, clarifier, UV disinfection unit, stream gauge, and fish passage structure. Used on site plans for water treatment plants, fisheries habitat designs, and hydrological studies.

Placing Symbols

Select a category tab or use "All" to browse everything
Click the desired symbol icon in the grid
Click on the PDF canvas to place the symbol
The symbol is placed as a 40×40px SVG centered at the click point

Symbol Properties

Vector-based: SVG graphics remain crisp at any zoom level
Color-inherited: Stroke color is injected from the Format toolbar at placement time
Scalable: Resize with selection handles while maintaining aspect ratio
Center-origin: Placed from center point for precise alignment to grid
Selectable: Move, resize, delete like any other markup

Tip: Set your preferred stroke color in the Format toolbar before placing symbols. To re-color an existing symbol, select it and change the stroke color — the SVG fill updates dynamically. Nuclear, medical, and lab symbols follow ISO/CSA conventions used in Canadian A&E practice.
